It’s no secret that New Zealand is bursting at the seams with beautiful scenery. If I’m honest though, I thought I’d seen most of what NZ had to offer in terms of beauty. What I’m saying is that mostly everything is pretty damn beautiful, right? Oh how wrong I was. The Routeburn Track is yet another level, it blew me away.
I’ve done a good few (very beautiful!) hikes through Europe in recent years (see here and here), and I’m constantly in awe of our wonderful world, but this time? Even more so. Maybe I was high on life because I was with my family in my favourite country? Or maybe it truly was b-e-a-u-tiful. All I can say is I loved it. I’ll let you decide!
As I mentioned, I hiked the Routeburn Track with a few of my favourite humans – mum, dad, and my two younger brothers. If you want details and the ins and outs of hiking the Routeburn Track, this post here will help you out. But really, if you have any added questions just message me – I’d love to help you out.
Put simply, if you plan on hiking the Routeburn Track you can expect two and a half blissful days of hiking, swimming, talking, eating, laughing; 32 km in total. Towering Beech trees, a forest floor carpeted in feathery native ferns, moss and lichen draping from branches in every direction. It is quite the fairy wonderland. Tumbling waterfalls, crystal clear creeks, and a handful of wooden swing bridges. Lush alpine meadows, azure glassy lakes, endless valley views. In my opinion? Pure magic.
